Animal Facts Department

[edit]

Under History, we have "On March 24, 2020, Tractor Supply started its own animal facts department and is available 24 hours a day." which the citation does not support. In fact, I'm unfamiliar with what an "animal facts department" might mean; and Google has turned up nothing. Does anyone know what this might mean, and which part of the TSC business it might refer to? DrKC9N (talk) 15:00, 8 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have worked for the company for about 8 months now, and have never heard of it. Sherman40336 (talk) 18:59, 23 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

TSC

[edit]

TSC also means "Time stamp counter", a register on x86 cpus that's incremeted each instruction. --Jsnow 21:15, 22 Sep 2004 (UTC)

See the page TSC for all the possible meanings (in Wikipedia) for that acronym. -- John Broughton (♫♫) 21:05, 26 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Updated information on Tractor Supply Co.

[edit]

There are several things on the Tractor Supply Company page that need to be updated. A news release dated January 30, 2013 [1] provides the following information as of December 29, 2012: Revenue - $4.66 billion, Operating income - $437 million, Net income - $276 million, Total assets - $1.71 billion and Total equity - $1.02 billion.

Unfortunately, I am having a difficult time updating the page. Can someone help with this? Beth Thompson (talk) 18:48, 16 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Beth! I updated the infobox. You may find it helpful to note that I cited the actual press release at http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?c=94930&p=irol-newsArticle_Print&ID=1779574&highlight= (not just the generic press-release page on the TSC website). Wikipedia citation formats can be bewildering -- many of us have learned the ropes here by copying the formats we find in existing content.
The article is still rather limited in content and a bit lame -- I know you have content to help resolve that. Note, however, that an encyclopedia article about a business needs to be written in an objective style and should not be written solely for the present (keep the possible needs and interests of long-term future audiences in mind), and claims like "largest" need to be supported by solid sources. Also, the encyclopedia needs to be careful to avoid possibly violating copyright. Not only do words like "supplying the lifestyle needs of recreational farmers and ranchers and those who enjoy the rural lifestyle" verge on copywriting-style language, but I believe those words came from the company and have been published elsewhere. Wikipedia articles need to be written in the original words of the contributors. --Orlady (talk) 19:11, 16 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Orlady! I'll try to work on some more of the content. Can TractorSupply.com be cited as a source? Our employee count is actually over 17,000, which can be found on the Company Profile page of our website. Also, I would like to upload the TSC logo to replace the photo at the top of the infobox, and I have a great store photo that I'd like to use in place of the Springfield, OH pic. Any tips for uploading these images? Beth Thompson (talk) 19:25, 16 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, Tractor Supply can be a source. I had a really hard time finding the company profile on the website (this helps to explain why Wikipedia hasn't cited it in the past), but since you said it existed I managed to find it. The Yahoo number was actually just full-time employees, so I annotated it that way and added the 17,000 as a total employment number. The situation with images can be complicated, so I'll try to remember to reply later. --Orlady (talk) 20:11, 16 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! I really appreciate the assistance. Beth Thompson (talk) 20:49, 16 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Now about those images... The logo should be uploaded here using the upload file feature. It should be identified as a logo. It will be a non-free image and will require a non-free use rationale, described at Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline. See files in Category:Non-free logos for examples of what to say on the forms. I can say from my own experience that you won't get it right the first time, but somebody knowledgable about non-free will show up and give you directives that will help you get things sorted out.
Because there are no restrictions on acquiring pictures of stores, any photos of the stores must have "free" licensing to be used here. (If your photo cannot be freely licensed, don't bother to upload it.) If you is releasable for free use, upload it at Wikimedia Commons. Your user account should already be created there, whether you know it or not. Once it's uploaded there, it can be added to the article here by linking to the file name, the same as if it was hosted here. --Orlady (talk) 00:51, 17 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
And I can take and upload a better photo of the store in the infobox. It was a quick photo taken in the dreariness of winter. Royalbroil 03:35, 17 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Are any of these statistics from Bloomberg LP useful [2]? Royalbroil 05:06, 17 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

TSC Canada has no relationship with TSC USA!

[edit]

They did, many years ago, but not recently. Hence, should the Canadian operation even be covered in this article??

TSC Stores in a Canadian owned and operated retailer, which has developed strong roots in Ontario over the past 50 years. TSC reached this 50 year milestone in September 2016 and is excited to continue to serve their customers through their 49 corporate TSC Store locations and head office in London, Ontario. http://www.tscstores.com/AboutUs.aspx

Store warranties

[edit]

Bought a fan in April it just up and quit working. Will no longer shop with you. If you only have a three month warranty on your merchandise second fan bought from you, that just up and quit in less than four or five months. not very friendly customer service if you’re not going to warranty your products for a year specially products that cost that much. 47.192.143.33 (talk) 20:28, 13 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
