Websites

[edit]

As per WP:ELOFFICIAL the farFuture.net website is the appropriate link.

  1. The linked content is controlled by the subject (organization or individual person) of the Wikipedia article.
  2. The linked content primarily covers the area for which the subject of the article is notable.

FarFuture.net meets both of those criteria. It is content controlled by the article subject, and it primarily covers the area for which the subject of the article is notable. WP:ELOFFICIAL is exempt from the normal restrictions on what links can or cannot be linked. Canterbury Tail talk 12:52, 7 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

NOT an appropriate link Per WP:ELOFFICIAL the farFuture.net website is NOT an appropriate link.

  1. While the linked content is controlled by the subject (organization or individual person) of the Wikipedia article.
  2. The linked content primarily DOES NOT cover the area for which the subject of the article is notable.

FarFuture.net DOES NOT meet the second criteria because it DOES NOT primarily cover the area for which the subject of the article is notable. WP:ELOFFICIAL is exempt from the normal restrictions on what links can or cannot be linked.

As Canterbury Tail states ( Wikipedia isn't here to provide connections to other sites, only to link when they add encyclopaedic content outside of the article itself." External Links. Canterbury Tail talk 11:47, 23 July 2013 (UTC)

Obviously, FarFuture.net is an e-commerce site that DOES NOT add contenct. The link's only value is to steer readers to a business so that they buy product. Jonathan Bland (talk) 18:39, 7 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree because there are items accessed on the site that explain Traveller, the setting and the publications. However I'm willing to leave it as I admit it isn't a lot of content. However Mongoose Publishing and SJ Games are most definitely not appropriate links for the article. Canterbury Tail talk 18:55, 7 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with you that commercial site is only relevant to Traveller entry because it expands and as you say explains Traveller.Jonathan Bland (talk) 19:19, 7 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
