Zip Codes

[edit]

Zip codes in the West End are roughly as follows:

23226 23227 23228 23229 23230

Not sure if zip codes of the west end merits inclusion in the article just yet. The intent is to flesh out the individual exit ramps with info about each region. If this isn't the best way to do it I need to hear soon. 132.159.147.99 22:34, 5 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Zip codes are a hard way to do this (is there an easy way?) because the post office didn't always follow the growth patterns of the transportation network. I also think if you are going to uses 23229, you have to include 23220 and 23221 closer in, and 23233, which was a breakout of 23229.

On the other hand, 23227 and 23228 could be considered north side, and then you run into the question of whether the Innsbrook and Short Pump areas are West End. (even though they carry a Glen Allen zip code).

If we must define, I believe that the real estate people have done a better job. Look in any copy of the classified section of Richmond Times-Dispatch, and see if you agree. Using that criteria, the West End would be clearly include areas 10, 20, & 22, and perhaps some areas somewhat north of I-64.

In any event, I think you are off to a good start. I would suggest concentrating WP work on content and see how it comes together. It is fairly easy to reorganize the information and presentation later if that becomes indicated. Vaoverland 23:42, Jan 5, 2005 (UTC)

Other West End zip codes

[edit]

23233, 23238 (also part of Goochland) Wouldn't 23060 be another West End areacode? I think Glen Allen is considered as part of the West End. Va girl2468 03:15, 20 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

history

[edit]

If this article had a history of the West End, what key words would it contain? When did the West End start? My guess would be with Monument avenue... and then the trolleys... and the movement of UR to Westmoreland. In there would be discussion of Windsor Farms; Sauer's Gardens, and the Country Club of VA... and then Willow lawn area. Am I missing anything? MPS 29 June 2005 18:59 (UTC)

maps

[edit]

does anyone have a map of the real estate districts in the West End? Non- copy-vio versions, of course. MPS 29 June 2005 18:59 (UTC)

VCU/MCV?

[edit]

Should VCU and MCV be listed here? I never thought of either campus being in the West End. Monroe Park campus is in the Fan and MCV is downtown. I'm removing it becauase it does seem out of place, but if anyone feels it's justified, give your reasons why. eaglescout1984 —Preceding undated comment added 13:54, 11 June 2009 (UTC).[reply]
