Confusing sentence

[edit]

"The mortality rate may be as high as 5%, however full recovery is seen in 50 to 75% of cases with increase in survival rates up to 70 to 90% with figures including minor residual disability as well." Wow this is confusing. If mortality rate is %5, how are the survival rates 70-90% instead of 95%? How is it a full recovery if the figures include minor residual disability? It's not that confusing. Firstly, you need to understand that the numbers come from different studies - so there will be some differences in the numbers, and comparing them literally will give you a headache (this is why some of the percentages are given as ranges). Anyways - 5% mortality does mean 95% survival - you're right. Of that 95%, full recovery is seen in 50-70%. Of the remaining cases, some will have minor residual disability - adding them in gives the 70-90%. However, you neglected to think about the survivors that have moderate to severe residual deficits.66.49.251.33 (talk) 01:06, 18 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
