Ironically, "Delagoa Bay" has 10x the Google hits of "Maputo Bay", even though the latter is now the official name. Stan 06:49, 13 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Of course, Delagoa had 200 years of history when it changed the name to Maputo, in 1975.--Rui Silva 12:59, 14 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Rotate the picture

[edit]

Could someone rotate the image of Maputo bay 270 degrees, since its north is now facing east. Thanks--Rui Silva 12:59, 14 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Wording in history section

[edit]

The phrase "Zulu hordes" sounds unencyclopedic. Also, was it the Zulu, the Swazi, or another Bantu tribe which prevented the colonists from expanding into the interior? Vdrj2 01:37, 6 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Information required on 1781 cession to Portugal

[edit]

The Wikipedia article on Maria I of Portugal contains a comment on the "1781 cession of Delagoa Bay from Austria to Portugal".

I thought it was unusual that Austria would be involved in this part of the world, so came here for more information, but there is no mention of it here. Austrian East India Company

[edit]

So...the Austrian East India Company established the forts in 1799, but the Portuguese removed them before that in 1781? I suspect that the first date in incorrect. Teixant (talk) 07:00, 16 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
