I've also heard "gollum" (small g) used as a derisive nickname for nanotechnologists and "downloading" advocates. I'll try to dig up a source. Another one of those "big-G" versus "small-g" overloaded Proper/generic issues. Sigh. Maybe we'll be lucky and that usage won't become prevalent.
