Could you kindly explain, why you call the account of three proven genealogical lineages in the talk page of Dim of yugosl. as "rant".

"nonsens": Could you kindly explain why you indicated, against facts, that in genealogy in the talk page has claimed that he is son of crown prince Alexander (as there was no such claim, the talk page clearly saying that he is son of that Alexander who is son of Paul and Olga).

Could you kindly explain why you have decided that explication of his descent from Scanderbeg and from certain medieval Balkan monarchs is "nationalist cruft"...

In my opinion, it is an interesting thing that despite odds against it (such as centuries of foreign rule, and persecution, and tendency to sink into oblivion as centuries go), a Yugoslavian prince actually verifiably descends from medieval monarchs of the same area./And, why cannot Wikipedia give such information - as it is undeniably information. 62.78.104.95 07:11, 21 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Interlingue Wikipedia

[edit]

Hello!

I saw that you are one of the administrators of the Interlingue Wikipedia. No one is working on this Wikipedia now and I would like to continue translating the system messages, but only an administrator can do it. What can I do?

Thanks! 07:11, 27 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Hello! Just leave a note in my discussion page there, and sign it. I will make you an admin. --Cam 22:08, 28 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

No. His edits were understandable, yours was not. You changed the wording so that it exactly matched Reuters reports. I reverted your edit because I was keeping the wording in the form one would link to on Wikipedia; I used official titles. KI 04:22, 29 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Great, thanks. Would you mind if I moved your translation to User:KI/Temp? That way such a long message wont take up the talkpage. Eventually it should be moved to Wikisource. KI 22:18, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

When in doubt, I try to assume good faith, but based on the edit summary, I believe the anonymous editor was trying to vandalize the article. The two comments by the foreign minister were on completely different sides of the issue-the anon attempted to sneakily edit out content. KI 22:13, 3 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Castellammare di Stabia

[edit]

Forgive my impertinence, but please help me to understand the thinking behind your recent sub-eds to this article. 1) why replace capital "P" in province? I checked and the Italian version is capitalised as is the English language article on the province. 2) why convert to the American spelling of "kilometer/kilometre"? The European version is acceptable in English (and the correct one in British English and Commonwealth English) and, I assume, in articles on European topics. 3) is "southeast" more correct than "south-east"? I'm not sure of the approved Wiki usages. Folks at 137 21:22, 3 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jeff,

A book I am reading states that the Tolpuddle Martyrs were sentenced by "Justice Baron Parke", which I assume means James Parke, Baron Wensleydale. Can you confirm this? If it is true, then it should be mentioned in the article on Parke.

I think it's Archbishop Paul Joseph Cordes. Fuller discussion here. Stroika 20:23, 11 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Personally I think on the balance of probabilities it is Cordes although I admit that might not pass beyond reasonable doubt. Wouldn't it be possible to have some text attached to the photograph saying it is believed to be Archbp Cordes, that he drafted part of DCE and was involved in its public presentation? I think it is a funny angle.--Stroika 09:17, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Farsi Transliteration

[edit]

I'm using the loosely phonetic transliteration scheme from all of the Farsi courses and books I've used (c.f. Thackston's An Introduction to Persian and Stilo, Talattos & Clinton's Modern Persian). The only other "system" I've encountered involves English-based "phonetics".

Ok, I see what you're getting at. I just see "thru", "nite", and "laf" in print every once in while, and I kind of like it. It looks like progress to me. Thanks! I'm familiar with the Arabic alphabet but I don't know the language really. I googled for the words individually and found a couple of them in a thread in a forum that was people joking around typing English with an Arabic keyboard. Then I found an Arabic keyboard layout and worked out the sentence and lo and behold, it made sense (sort of) in English. A cryptographer I am not! --Cam 19:01, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Sheikha Haya.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Sheikha Haya.jpg. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Admin at vo.wiki

[edit]

Dear Jmb, you're currently one of the Admins at the Volapük Wikipedia. There is now a proposal there for removing admin status from two people, you being one of them. If you're still interested in contributing (I note how much your list of Volapük words has been helping me in the Volapük Wiktionary -- I'm now finishing letter F partially thanks to you), I would oppose this suggestion. You can give your opinion here (in Volapük or English, as you prefer). -Smeira) 19:44, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

Volapük again

[edit]

Dear Jmb, there is a new problem with the Volapük Wikipedia in discussion at Meta: m:Proposals for closing projects/Radical cleanup of Volapük Wikipedia. I personally disagree with the proposal, for the reasons I mention in the discussion (it looks like a wiki coup-d'état, the Lombard case was actually different, the proposal should have been made in the vo.wp community first, etc.); and I thought maybe you'd agree and also cast a vote there to oppose it. (Of course, judging by the opinions you expressed in the first closure proposal, you might actually agree with the proposal; please feel free not to oppose it, or even to support it, if you see fit.) The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field. Greetings, Cam, and many thanks for your help with my Humanities RD query. I'm just now reading Nikolai Leskov for the first time, in English translation by David Magarshak, and it's rather more... primal (?) that the works of later Russian authors I've read, though perhaps those were more accessible for having urban settings. Since I know little about Leskov's milieu, getting some background helps me grasp and appreciate what's being told. -- Cheers, Deborahjay (talk) 16:53, 28 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

Thanks for your recent additions to the list. However, for Gaheris I have an audiobook that pronounces it with stress on the 2nd syllable. Are you sure it has stress on the first? Is my book wrong, or might there be two pronunciations? (I got the book for these pronunciations, but haven't listened to it all yet.) — kwami (talk) 19:52, 25 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I found a few older lists of pronunciations [1][2][3] at Google Books. They all seem to show the stress on the first syllable of Gaheris, with a "long a". They're all from about a hundred years ago, though.--Cam (talk) 21:00, 25 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
In searching further I see that Bulfinch indicates stress on the second syllable. So your pronunciation was attested back then, too.--Cam (talk) 21:12, 25 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

French translation request

[edit]

Could you help translate this entire passage?
