I relisted Mr. Milczyn's profession from "architect" to politician. Mr. Milczyn is not an architect, and this listing could put him in contravention of the Architects Act, which states:

 (2) Every person who is not a holder of a licence, certificate of practice or temporary licence and who,
   (a) uses the title “architect” or “architecte” as an occupational designation;
   (b) uses,
     (i) an addition to or an abbreviation of the title “architect” or “architecte”,
     (ii) an occupational designation, or
     (iii) a term, title, addition or description,
     that will lead to the belief that the person may engage in the practice of architecture; or
   (c) uses a seal that will lead to the belief that the person is an architect,
is guilty of an offence and on conviction is liable for the first offence to a fine of not more than $10,000 and for each subsequent offence to a fine of not more than $25,000. R.S.O. 1990, c. A.26, s. 46 (2).

Hopefully the irony isn't lost here, in that Peter Milczyn is a MPP sworn to uphold the laws of the Province of Ontario, yet his own wikipedia page and dozens (if not hundreds) of articles and sources list him as "an architect", an "architect by profession", a "trained architect", etc. — Adtrace (talk) 16:36, 6 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This argument is irrelevant to Wikipedia. People who have biographies don't own them nor do they control the information on their page. The information is compiled from references listed in publicly available sources. Milczyn's past experience as an architect is well documented. The regulation you mention might be relevant if Milczyn has his own website and makes a claim there. I have no idea about the status of his current licence nor does it matter much to Wikipedia. I'm unaware of Mr. Milczyn having ever "practiced" anywhere outside of Ontario, which would bind him to the law he is now sworn to uphold as a MPP. Planning and design does not equate to architecture, and I can definitely state that Mr. Milcyzn has never been licensed, nor has he ever practiced as an Architect. I am quite certain the MPP himself would not want Wikipedia to be holding him out to be in contravention of provincial law, so I would ask my revisions to be left as is. I will continue to make them as required. Anywhere Mr. Milczyn has been framed as an architect has been wrongly inferred from his architectural degree, which does not make an architect anymore than a person who studied medicine suddenly becomes a Doctor. Addition needed

[edit]

Mr. Milczyn was also the Minister Responsible for the Poverty Reduction Strategy, which was concurrent with his term as Minister of Housing. This should be added to his bio but I'm not familiar enough with wiki editing to do so. Source is the Ontario Legislature site. — Adtrace (talk) 16:02, 19 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
