Merge history section with US-specific article

[edit]

With few exceptions the § History section discusses the history of the movement in the United States only. This is just another example of an article being dominated by a narrow American focus. Of course the temperance movement was a worldwide movement, and so the existing article is largely unhelpful for non-American readers. For the time being I propose merging the text with Temperance movement in the United States, and leaving in place a short summary of the temperance movement along with the existing hatnote links to the respective national articles, i.e. Temperance movement in Australia, Temperance movement in India, Temperance movement in Ireland, Temperance movement in New Zealand, Temperance movement in Sri Lanka, Temperance movement in the United Kingdom, Temperance movement in the United States. Currently this article largely overlaps with the last linked article. --Hazhk (talk) 20:38, 30 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

There are mentions of England, Canada, India, the United States, etc. in this article, not just the United States. I'd recommend that more content be added rather than merging everything to another article. I hope this helps. With regards, AnupamTalk 20:46, 30 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Closing, given the uncontested objection and no support. Klbrain (talk) 09:44, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Notable Figures

[edit]

Per the discussion at the "Teetotalism" talk page, this article could be enhanced through the inclusion of a list of notable temperance activists. Msoul13 (talk) 15:07, 25 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
