Picture is impersonating someone else!

[edit]

This is not the true picture of Joshua. Please show the most recent of Joshua since you claim he is still alive. Why is the writer impersonating Bruce Mayrock, the true owner of that picture who died on May 30th 1969 in New York. Zilze (talk) 12:34, 2 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

So this is extremely odd. The picture in the article is definitely a picture of Joshua (see the full photo, with two other chess grandmasters, taken in 2005, or compare to this YouTube video of Joshua). But you're right that the entire world seems to have decided that that is a picture of Bruce Mayrock, including statuary.
I learned that today from this Twitter thread], and came to this article's talk page to see if there'd been any discussion of it! If you look for the photo of Mayrock ablaze, or this newspaper photo immediately afterwards, you'll see he looks nothing like Joshua. The "Fake History Hunter" tweet earlier suggested that this is Bruce Mayrock, whose hair and features resemble the man ablaze, at least. As to why the confusion I have no idea. — mendel  _ * _ 23:01, 30 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Correct quotation?

[edit]

Hi, I reference the quoted passage which ends with—
"It was something that I loved so deeply that when I started to become alienated from it, I couldn't do it in an immature way".

To me this doesn't make sense. It seems to say the opposite of what happened in the way he left chess. Is it meant to be "I couldn't do it in a mature way" ?

Given that it implies an abrupt finality (i.e. immature) leaving, is the quote correct? Manytexts (talk) 11:18, 20 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
