The school lists at [1] don't match up with the district's official school numbers. Not sure why this is, but this page will need a bit of tweaking because of it. Stellertony the Bookcrosser 06:01, 27 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Bristol Palin & Sex Education

[edit]

It should be mentioned that Bristol Palin transferred into the Anchorage School District after attending Wasilla High School. Official Anchorage School District documents indicate that the curriculum strongly stresses abstinence at all levels that discuss sex, although contraception is still mentioned at certain grade levels. In the sections that discuss contraception (condoms are the only ones explicitly mentioned), it is stressed that it should be taught abstinence is superior and the best option.

I get the impression that they don't distribute condoms, but it doesn't say that explicitly, unless I missed something. They do provide referrals to local organizations that provide advice and free condoms, such as Planned Parenthood. With issues like homosexuality and masturbation, they take a non-judgmental approach and when it comes to moral stances on them, it is stated that the students should be directed to their parents or another trusted adult for advice.

Just for the record: the above is not encyclopedic and does not need to be included in the article.--Kudpung (talk) 01:47, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
A section on sex education standards would not be unencyclopedic necessarily --137.229.171.94 (talk) 01:55, 26 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
