I've notice that the logo that was used during the 1990's is absent. Could you put this up? Here's a link:

GO PHOENIX SUNS

Go ahead and do it yourself. It is easy, just use the code on the "edit this page" part to guide you. It will only take a few moments of your time and will make the page look great.--Msr69er 15:50, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject

[edit]

I had a few ideas for the Spurs page, which turned into a few ideas for all the NBA pages. So I created a WikiProject, which can be found here. I hope you guys will help contribute!!! Dknights411 July 8, 2005 02:10 (UTC)

Recentism?

[edit]

Wouldn't an entire section on the '05-'06 season be considered recentism? I don't think it is historically that important.

Question about the Sol Patrol

[edit]

Is the Sol Patrol really the name for a Phoenix Suns fan group? I see that the Sol Patrol is a name for a performance group, but I can't find anything about it being a fan organization. Thanks!! -- ArglebargleIV 20:11, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, another question I had was answered -- the Sol Patrol was not named after Taylor Hicks' Soul Patrol -- The Phoenix Suns' fan performance group "Sol Patrol" was named that BEFORE American Idol 2006 started -- NBA press release, December 4, 2005 [1] -- the "Zoo Crew" renamed to the Adio "Sol Patrol". Therefore, Hicks' fans did not inspire the name of the Suns' group. -- ArglebargleIV 15:34, 15 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Weasel words?

[edit]

In the legacy section the article states acording to critics that the Suns style of play focuses on aspects of offense to the detriment of defense. It seems to me that because the critics are not identified or cited, this just an example of weasel words.

"Not to be forgotten" List

[edit]

This is a GREAT article, but I noticed that most of the players on the "Not to be forgotten" list seemed to be straight out of the 90's-00's...I added as many players of note that I could think of from the 70's-80's (particularly from '76 - the first NBA Finals year for the Suns), but I know I left out a few...I also added some famous name former Suns, like Pat Riley & Gail Goodrich...As a whole, I think the list could be edited to remove a few and to add a few.Sundevilesq 00:43, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I have a Suns blog that talks solely about the Phoenix Suns. I see there is an external links section but am not sure if it is appropriate to put the blog on there since I own the blog itself. Is that section only for "official" links or for anything that pertains to the suns? It's located at The Suns Blog.

Thanks. --Webclimbers 05:02, 23 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Varem not on the current roster yet

[edit]

I removed Jeff Varem from the current roster. He has received an invite to training camp, but hasn't been given a roster spot. If that happens, we can add him back in. 65.101.3.180 09:18, 27 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cleaning up this page

[edit]

This page needs to be cleaned up. The parts about the 2004-2005 and 2005-2006 season need to be combined along with the part about Colangeo.

Also the rivals section is pretty weak and probably extraneous

Unless there are any arguments, I will do this in the next couple days. I just want other input.

Question

[edit]

Who is there manager?

If you mean coach (which is the term used for the person who determies line ups, calls plays, etc.) it is Mike D'Antoni.

If you mean general manager as in the person who hires the coach and the players then that person is Mike D'Antoni 12.10.219.39 22:29, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Failed GA

[edit]

Primary reason for failure was that the majority of the article lacked inline references, or any sort of references. Images need fair use rationales. MER-C 09:53, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Where is BARBOSA under current players

[edit]

No Information on the Gorilla?

[edit]

You would think the Gorilla would be mentioned SOMEWHERE -- perhaps under Logos and Uniforms?

No information on Shaquille O'Neal?

[edit]

How is it possible that the Marion/O'Neal trade isn't even mentioned? This is beyond bizarre. 76.169.154.92 (talk) 16:56, 16 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Apparent discrepancy in history section

[edit]

In "The early years: A Tuscan connection section" there is the statement "In 1976....Game 5 was a triple-overtime classic that is considered by many to be the greatest..."

Next in section "1993 NBA Finals and "The Barkley Era"" we find the statement "This series included a triple-overtime game (Game 3) that along with game 4 of the 1976 series are the only triple overtime games in the history of the NBA finals." I did not want to edit because I do not consider myself knowledgeable on the subject and do not know which one is correct. Thank you. Sebacoyl 05:18, 15 May 2007 (UTC)Sebacoyl[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Logo suns old.gif

[edit]

Image:Logo suns old.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Spurs rivalry

[edit]

I never heard about a Spurs rivalry. What's with that? Basketball110 :) 02:49, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The "rivalry" in question mainly stems from Suns fans that still hold a grudge after last year's second-round matchup (go to the 2007 NBA Playoffs article for more information about that.) As for this article, we should probably delete this section. Dknights411 (talk) 03:06, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Summary bar missing official website

[edit]

The team description bar on the right-hand side incorrectly states the Suns as lacking an official website. It is, in fact, listed in the external links.

Michael Finley exclusion

[edit]

In the Barkley era section, Michael Finley's impact was completely ignored. Drafted in 1995, he immediately became the #2 scorer on the team (behind Barkley) and soon established himself as a future star. In fact, when the much ballyhooed trade for Jason Kidd happened in 1997, Finley was arguably the centerpiece of the Suns end of the trade, even though Steve Nash went on to have the more noteable NBA career. In addition, it was Finley's immediate contribution to the Dallas Mavericks (which included two consecutive all-star appearances) that helped take the Mavericks from downtrodden franchise to Western Conference powerhouse.

I'm hoping the edits I made to the Wiki entry stays. Boston, MA 09:30, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

History section deleted

[edit]

The first 1/3 of the history section was deleted recently and should be reinstated. If there is a good reason for doing so, the information should be available on another page and a statement on the page saying "for the history before 1980, see..." or something to that effect. I may do this myself but I will give it a few days.--Msr69er (talk) 10:11, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I left the logo section of the infobox blank so that the new Suns logo, which was unveiled today, be placed inside. Anyone with a free file, provided you put a copyright note, please upload ASAP. .--Ralphierce (talk) 09:29, 26 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hyphens and endashes

[edit]

Just a minor detail, but a span or range of numbers (e.g. scores, records, years, etc) should be separated by an endash (–), not a hyphen (-). The difference is slight and most people don't notice it unless they're looking for it. There's a lot of hyphens in the article where there should be endashes and I'm too lazy to go through the whole article weeding them out lol. I think there's a tool or a bot that can do it though, but I'm not too familiar with automated editing. Lizard (talk) 20:45, 21 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Phoenix Suns 2022-2023 Statement Uniforms

[edit]

The orange Statement uniforms posted on this Wikipedia page for the Suns are outdated. Their new statement uniforms for the 2022-2023 season are primarily black. 71.223.31.178 (talk) 01:11, 15 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
