Clean up

[edit]

The first 4 paragraphs before the um, two == things starts needs to clean up. When I look at it all I see is a wall-o-text.

The Star Forge's orbit

[edit]

The article says the Star Forge is in a heliostationary orbit over one of the star's poles. Isn't a *stationary orbit above a pole impossible? It would just be hovering a distance from the surface of the sun, which technically wouldn't be an orbit at all. --Matt Keleher 16:12, Sep 2, 2004 (UTC)

Such things as a heliostationary over a star pole doesn't exist according to my modest knowledge in space mechanics ;) However it is a certitude the station is not orbiting according to the videos in the game: the stream of matter between the star and the Star Forge is not curved. Maybe the station is hovering above the star using the Force :P --Fafner 07:28, 14 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Why did Malak convert Bastilla?

[edit]

On another topic, I have a doubt concerning the reason why Darth Malak converted Bastila to the Dark Side. It is said in the article they have the same type of mood, that seems a good reason indeed. But more pragmatically, like the Sith are in general, it would rather be that Dark Malak is very interested in Bastila's Battle Meditation ;) To finish, I think the return of Dark Revan is badly explained in the article. If the article have to spoil the scenario, best say the whole thing :D I won't tell here, it should be in the article only ;) If no one correct this I will do it in a few days (no time right now). --Fafner 07:28, 14 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Yes, most probably he just wanted to use her Battle Meditation against the Republic, much like the Republic used (or tried to use) Revan against Malak himself. The return of Revan was, and is, badly explained, perhaps it would be better to add dark and light side endings, mentioning that the latter one is canonical. --Sikon 13:24, 10 Jun 2005 (UTC)
I played the game, and Malak didn't want to turn her because they had "compatible" tempers or fashion sense, but simply because of her Battle Meditation. She was just one more tool in his arsenal. They make a big deal about her ability since the very beginning of KotOR after all, hard to miss that crucial plot element. -Hierogrammate 20:42, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tatoos

[edit]

A minor point: the article says that Malak is adorned with "traditional Sith tattoos" on his head. According to his appearance in KotOR 2 (in the Sith proving ground on Korriban), however, he has that tattoo prior to his conversion to the Sith. Can anyone confirm this?

I didn't even know Malak was in KOTOR 2... --Sikon 13:24, 10 Jun 2005 (UTC)
He appears only a brief time. --User:Psi edit
In Kotor 2, he gets Jedi to fight for the REPUBLIC. So, obviously, he is on the Jedi side.Darthan the destroyer 14:12, 14 February 2007 (UTC){{}}[reply]

Malak's successor?

[edit]

I think we can safely assume that Traya/Nihilus/Sion were Malak's successors. Even better: Traya was Malak's successor after a short period without a Dark Lord, then Nihilis and Sion stripped her off her power and banished her from the Order.

Successors as leaders of the Sith, perhaps, but not as bearer of the title of Dark Lord.

Lightsaber form

[edit]

Is there anything out there that can verify his lightsaber form, or is all of this just guesswork? Nufy8 23:39, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

AFAIK, guesswork. --maru (talk) Contribs 23:53, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Then shall we remove it? Nufy8 23:55, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
In situations like this, I like to:
  1. Put a verify template on the relevant section
  2. Comment on the talk page
  3. Go ask on Wookiepedia.
What do you think? --maru (talk) Contribs 04:46, 13 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I guess that works. Nufy8 05:27, 13 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I don't recall any source saying that Malak uses Djem So. Forms aren't used in the first KotOR. Texcarson 13:18, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Malak's Jaw

[edit]

If no one can verify the information given in the article regarding Revan being responsible for Malak’s disfigured jaw it should be removed.67.142.130.40 22:20, 12 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Doesn't Hk say that his master took out Malaks jaw. I mean, remember, Malak says right before the fight on the Star Forge, "And again we will fight to see who will rule the universe." That means they battled once more. Darthan the destroyer 22:12, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Early Career vandalism

[edit]

The "Early Career" section has some particulary lame vandalism, but I don't enough to want to edit this myself. 129.2.213.123 03:59, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I noticed this when I looked at the article last night. Not the kind of thing I expected to find, and gives to me a new spin on the motto of "the encyclopedia that anyone can edit." I'm looking at Wikipedia with *very* different eyes now. It's the first time I log here and start "playing" with this, and what I immediately noticed and shocked me a bit was the ease in which anyone indeed *can* change the content, including this text I am entering now. As much as that troubles me, back on the topic: I have some very basic knowledge about the character to attempt to clean up the text a bit, but if somone is more knowledgeable about it... -Hierogrammate 20:42, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Malak's name?

[edit]

Are the origins of Malak's name anything but OR? It reads like they are. Staecker 01:10, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think you're right. I support the removal. --Deskana (AFK 47) 12:27, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect

[edit]

I have redirected this mass of plot summary, trivia, and original research to -- just like allll the other KOTOR NPCs -- to the List of... GlassCobra, rather than just following around my edits, try to do something constructive with your time. --EEMIV (talk) 13:31, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I consider preservation of information quite constructive, thanks. :) However, your tone isn't really appreciated. GlassCobra 13:35, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
