Letters and names

[edit]

It would probably be unclear to readers unfamiliar with the Cyrillic alphabet that the letters Savicheva chose for each note corresponded to the names of the people who had died.

Letter Person Cyrillic
Ж Zhenya Женя
Б Grandma Бабушка
Л Lyoka Лёка
Д Uncle Vasya Дядя Вася
Л Uncle Lyosha Дядя Лёша
М Mama Мама

Maybe this information could be incorporated into the article somehow. 2601:644:0:DBD0:9038:733A:5C9A:BB85 (talk) 05:35, 9 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I'm in the back of beyond with little internet. I suggest you add a sentence explaining after the first letter, Leka. Or I can do it when i am back in civilisation! Mramoeba (talk) 14:52, 9 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Re Vasya: the linked citation states that she made the entry under В, not Д. Medici (talk) 04:30, 10 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Yes that would make sense! Thanks Mramoeba (talk) 16:45, 10 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox

[edit]

The infobox exists to represent(s) a summary of information about the subject of an article. In this way, they are comparable to data tables in some aspects. and template doc states "Names of siblings or other relatives; include only if independently notable or particularly relevant. For multiple entries, use an inline list." Considering the subject matter of the article, in which all listed were the primary subject of the diary and died in succession during the seige of Leningrad and were recorded by Savicheva, this information should either be in the infobox summary, or at the least copied to the body of the article should other editors have a preference to remove it. It could also be changed to an inline list, but it shouldn't be deleted entirely as it is a "summary of information about the subject of an article".
