Geography overbloat

[edit]
Fernie is the only city-class municipality in Canada that is fully encircled by the Rocky Mountains

I removed the yeah-so-what line about "unique weather patterns....this far inland"; anywhere in the world, never mind BC, has "unique climate/weather patterns"; the statement was made, like the above, as if this were something miraculous and not just the way things are in the Cordilleran climate-map. As far as the above line goes I'm not sure what to do with it - it's very misleading, and also overbloated as right off the bat there are eight provinces and three territories of Canada where the Rocky Mountains do not exist (not that I've heard anyway). that Banff, though larger than Fernie I think, isn't a city technically helps this line out (which seems to be from Fernie tourist brochures). But as far as "encircled by....mountains", Nelson and Creston are "encircled by the Selkirk Mountains", Trail, Castlegar and Revelstoke are "encircled by the Selkirk and Monashee Mountains" or "encircled by the Columbia Mountains"....is this really "geography" or is this "tourist hype"? I think the latter....Skookum1 (talk) 18:12, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I also pulled out "the noted backcountry resort" qualifiers for island Park Lodge, which is as its page says, the City of Fernie, and hence isn't backcountry in the slightest unless you're looking at the whole of Canada that way (anywhere within a short few minutes drive of Highway 3 scarcely qualifies as "backcountry"). That article needs anti-POV/promo editing, maybe I'll do some but for now I'll just add the WP template(s).Skookum1 (talk) 18:14, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Film section

[edit]

Does anyone have a link to a reliable source for the films and TV shows listed in the film section? I wasn't able to find any through Google. Air.light (talk) 21:07, 12 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Mount Proctor vs Mount Procter

[edit]

I was making changes to the Mount Proctor page and it seems officially according to CGNDB and BCGNIS, this peak is named "Mount Procter". Can any locals comment about this naming confusion on the Talk:Mount Proctor? Thanks. RedWolf (talk) 06:06, 21 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
