I moved the reference to the accusation of his anti-semitism from the introductory paragraph because, though important, is not really a defining attribute. I also removed the embolded passage of this line:

who left PE in the early 90s and later on re-joined the crew - is part of the Rapcore outfit Confrontation Camp - 'a name that could have led to a scandal but didn't, probably because the group's records aren't distributed by a major label.

It isn't clear why the name would led to a scandal. Clarification should be given for this line in order for it to be included.

"it was an open secret that Rick Rubin, executive producer of PE's first two LPs and cofounder of Def Jam was of Ashkenazi Jewish descent, as were The Beastie Boys"- how was it even an "open" secret that Rubin was Jewish, even if one had never heard of him the last name "Rubin" would have been a gigantic clue. There is also of course nothing secretive about being Jewish, whether or not Rubin is a practicing member of the faith or not. All that being said their apparent silence about Professor Griff's statements is unsettling Francis Burdett 22:17, 18 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Birthday?

[edit]

"Professor Griff: a childhood friend of Chuck D (they shared the same birthday), "

  1. What does their sharing birthdates have to do with being childhood friends?
  2. I presume none of them changed birthdays since then.

I just removed the reference. - Kamagurka 13:16, 4 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Controversy

[edit]

I am changing the poorly cited third paragraph of Early Years In Public Enemy. The controversy did not erupt due to Griff supporting the Palestinian side of the Israel-Arab conflict, nor did Mills "lift" those quotes, which were "If the Palestinians took up arms, went into Israel and killed all the Jews, it'd be alright", cited in the Christgau article I've linked to. He conducted his own interview.

The David Mills interview, which brought the controversy to a head, contained quotes from Griff's anti-Semitic conspiracy theories, encapsulated by his quote, "the majority of them [i.e., Jews]" are responsible for "the majority of the wickedness that goes on across the globe," also cited in Christgau, but supported by the Miami New Times article I've also cited, as well as below (I've cleaned up the Rap Attack citation as well).

Furthermore, the Controversy section belongs chronologically below the Early Years In Public Enemy, and has nothing outside of this time period and Departure from Public Enemy. I've made these changes and cleaned up the citations. Jaunda (talk) 02:29, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Continuing Homophobia and Anti-Semitism

[edit]

Watching this person on www.youtube.com, one can see and hear that Griff
has not changed his opinions whatsoever. If anything he has become extremely
and aggressively more homophobic and anti-Semitic to the point where some
might suggest he seek help for his issues. This of course is my opinion. James BainVorian01 (talk) 20:13, 21 July 2013 (UTC)Vorian01 (talk) 20:07, 21 July 2013 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vorian01 (talkcontribs) 19:46, 21 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Can you give a direct link to one of the youtube videos? He was interviewed on the Alex Jones show. He did mention the 'New World Order', but didn't make any homophobic or anti-Semitic remarks on that occasion. Jonpatterns (talk) 19:51, 11 August 2013 (UTC) He talks about homosexuality here- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xmZzQONY2LQ[reply]

For the record, regarding the quote in Analytixz, David Mills did post the audio from part of the interview with Griff in the comment section of his blog for this post: http://undercoverblackman.blogspot.com/2008/12/random-wrongness_22.html. It's the link in the response "oh really, Fisher?". However, Vox.com is dead, and I wasn't able to find it during a search on Archive.org. Jaunda (talk) 21:42 1 July 2014 (UTC)

Afrocentrism

[edit]

Is it just me, or is the Afrocentrism section total BS? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.77.43.234 (talk) 10:18, 17 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Children

Why aren't his child or children listed? 2600:1700:8BA0:28A0:C971:1464:9C46:ACA6 (talk) 15:56, 1 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know. I added a {{citation needed}} tag for it. ☿ Apaugasma (talk ) 07:23, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
