Although Bowden is in Red Deer County, having a nave table box with only that at the bottom is not useful therefor returned to useing community namesGlenlarson 05:23, 26 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

It is not in Red Deer County, it is surrounded by Red Deer County. The purpose of the boxes are to show bordering municipalities. That was my intent when I started them a year and a half ago. -- Earl Andrew - talk 06:01, 26 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
You miss the point completely. Having this type of box where every direction is Red Deer County is completly useless. We do not usually navigate in Alberta by the counties. What is improtant is the name of the next community.Glenlarson
Fine then, these boxes don't belong then, as they are for bordering municipalities. Or else someone more familiar with the other boxes may be confused and think Bowden borders Red Deer. -- Earl Andrew - talk 07:14, 27 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
When I look at the Ottawa page, I see the next community. Red Deer County is an open rural area and "not" a bordering municipality, if you think of municipality as a built up area like town, which is the more common usage, and not that of a governmental area, which your usage would be, less common. Is ther a reference page on wikipedia that outlines these rules? Perhaps there is where the discussion should happen, because these boxes are useful, and to discount their usefullness in other applications counters the advantages of this medium, pussing wikipedia to just another book on the web.GlenlarsonPS. There are lots of other pages that use the box incorrrect, as well.
No, no- Red Deer County is every bit a municipality. Municipalities can be very urban or very rural in nature. They are a level of government below the census division. Statcan uses the term census subdivision instead of municipality, but uses municipality informaly. I'm sure the Alberta Federation of Municipalities counts the counties as municipalities. As for the other incorrect boxes, I would like to have them changed, but I am not superman ;-) If you *really* want the box back, make note that these municipalities dont border the said municipality. -- Earl Andrew - talk 21:41, 27 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
