Oil

[edit]

Adams' seeming obsession with the "Oilers" name and his determination to keep anyone else from getting the rights to it is interesting. Perhaps it is his own petroleum background. A lot of his pride was tied up in the name, and it is very likely that he would have left it on the team if they had been doing anything like the amount of business that they needed to remain viable in Tennessee. In its defense, there are several producing oil wells in Tennessee, largely well to the east of Nashville, although hardly comparable to the oil fields of Texas. As several wags pointed out, there's lot more oil in Tennessee than there ever has been lakes in Los Angeles, or jazz in Utah.

They should have kept the "Tennessee Oilers" moniker and then changed their fight song to the theme song of the "Beverly Hillbillies." They were, after all, Tennessee oilers. 72.148.45.37 (talk) 15:00, 6 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"NFL rejects"

I noticed that this is now a redlink in the article. Are there good chances that this will become a viable list/category, or is this better deleted? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.88.1.62 (talk) 21:23, 16 January 2007 (UTC).[reply]
