Corrections concerning his role as Iago in Welles' Othello

[edit]

I changed Welles' intended interpretation of Iago from homosexual to impotent (don't know how p.c. this is, but MacLiammoir quotes Welles as telling him to play Iago as an "Impotent, that's why he hates life so much.") Both of them would remember that Laurence Olivier tried the homosexual interpretation in 1937 and it did not work, with the audience not understanding what was going on. Concerning Iago's age, Iago says in the play "I have looked upon the world for four times seven years" (1.3.312f). While MacLiammoir arguably does not look older than his age of 50, he is certainly older than Welles' Othello, while it usually is the other way round. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Grovel (talkcontribs) 13:12, August 23, 2007 (UTC).

Incorrect spelling of his surname

[edit]

The usual spelling of his surname is Mac Liammóir. This should be corrected (I believe an admin may be needed to change it back?). Hohenloh + 00:54, 23 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I strongly agree, as previously mentioned.Hohenloh + 15:08, 3 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Comment, if this is the case, why is his name spelt Liammhóir all over the article? I will go with which ever spelling is correct bu the article needs to reflect that spelling too. ww2censor (talk) 18:16, 7 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
