When I Found You

[edit]

As far as I know, "When I Found You" is a track on this album.. searching it on Wikipedia even redirects here, yet it's not mentioned at all in the article, in the Track Listings, Bonus Tracks, anything. W'sup with that? Save-Me-Oprah(talk) 08:16, 1 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Boys

[edit]

I think it should be noted that Boys is her lowest charting single in the US being 23 (also known as 123) on that one Billboard Bubbling Chart. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ihatemonday (talkcontribs) 22:07, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Singer-songwriter"

[edit]

What, is that clever vandalism or something? Even if Spears co-wrote some songs on her album, that does not qualify her as a singer-songwriter. From the article: "Singer-songwriter is a term that refers to performers who write, compose and sing their own material including lyrics and melodies. They often provide the sole accompaniment to an entire composition or song, typically using a guitar or piano. A number of other well-known musicians may write some of their own songs, but are usually referred to as singers instead." Bolding courtesy of me. As far as I'm concerned, Spears has not composed any songs, as that would require her to play an instrument, which, other than a couple of amateur guitar lessons courtesy of ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake [1], she can't play any. Not only that, singer-songwriters are known to write all of their material throughout their entire careers, something Britney hasn't done as well. I'll remove the singer-songwriter part from the article. --Whip it! Now whip it good! 04:13, 21 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, Britney Spears is listed as the SOLE writer/composer of "Someday (I Will Understand)", she composed the melody of "Everytime" on the piano, which she can play fairly well. I know she hasn't written or composed all of her songs but to say that she has done nothing is clearly just a sign of lacking knowledge.

That's Where You Take Me, a single or not???

[edit]

I've been searching the internet about information about this track...but i don't have the appropriate facts and sources to come up with...

When is the release date??? Where it has been released? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Adelbutt123 (talkcontribs) 05:29, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"That's Where You Take Me" was released in the Phillippines only to a CD single format with a B-Side "When I Found You." [1] User:Cprice1000 User:Cprice1000 () 15:55, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

U.S. and WORLDWIDE Sales As of 2009

[edit]

The "Britney" album, did sold well in the U.S as of July 2009, the figures given by the Nielsen SoundScan and USA Today News of 2006 stands only 4,336,000 copies precisely. Anyhow, the BMG Music Club Sales are only 588,000 copies click here...Nielsen SoundScan does not count these club sales numbers, that were popular in the 1990's.link

According to the "People Magazine" Britney had sold exactly 9 million copies worldwide since 2002. In her official website www.britney.com on her career highlights, "Britney" sold the same 9 million copies...but the certifications there are false like Mexicos' AMPROFON certification and the Brazilian's ADBP are did not match on its websites..I do not trust this site...please site an reliable source on changing the worldwide sales figure.

Addiotional Sources For The Promotion

[edit]

I added the "worldwide appearance" portion, because Britney appeared on Australia, Germany, Mexico, Japan, Korea. She promoted her album there, i searched up the IMDB website and there are so many TV appearances, live performances that are missed in this article that's why I added that. I hope that helps! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Adelbutt123 (talkcontribs) 13:30, 7 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Difference between promo and real singles

[edit]

Stop saying "Anticipating" and "That's Where You Take Me" are promos. Both have the cd single on it's article. Promos don't have singles. The promos are plain white cds just to promote the album. A company is not going to waste money making a promo so pretty looking. In that case, "Toxic" and "Everytime" aren't singles either, because I've seen promos of both those songs. Search ebay, amazon, or the general internet, you will find the promos of those. Plus they have a decorated cd single but apparently Jive likes to spend money on nothing. Grow up! Accept the fact that they are singles!! There's nothing you can do about it. All four songs have the CD single and citations. Delete two, you have to delete the rest too!! Deal with it! Someone go ask Jive Records. You could ask Britney but she might not even know, they don't tell the artist everything. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Avram44 (talkcontribs) 22:23, 16 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed! Both deserve their own articles as they were released to CD format which does NOT happen to promotional singles! Just because they have limited releases does not mean they are simply promos.(Cprice1000 00:21, 30 July 2010 (UTC)) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cprice1000 (talkcontribs)

Wording

[edit]

On its fourth week, the album moves 5-4 on a 17% sales increase,[22] selling more than 264,000 copies and cracked the 2 million mark.[23] It was followed by a beneficiary of a 13% sales boost, and ups the album one slot to number-three Enya's A Day Without Rain,[24] on sales of almost 300,000 copies.[

Merger proposal

[edit]

I propose that Britney: The Videos be merged into this article. There is such little content in The Videos article that I feel it would be best to merge the sourced content into a section within the main album's article. The synopsis is nothing more than an advertisement, so that can even be removed completely, leaving just a brief paragraph description and the DVD contents. Britney (album)Britney – I find it odd that the title "Britney" currently redirects to the artist, who is known as Britney Spears (with her last name included), rather than her self-titled album. Since she is so well-known, people looking for the singer are almost certain to know her full name, and wouldn't rely just on her first name. Also, of the pages named "Britney" listed under the disambiguation, the album is certainly the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC over the other two songs by the same name. Nonsense

[edit]

The introduction to the article makes no sense. It says that the singles proved to be extremely successful, but then it says "Consequentually, it became her first album not to have any single reach the top 10", which makes no sense, if something, that proves that the singles were not successful, at least compared to her previous ones. --Freddy eduardo (talk) 19:00, 29 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Britney: The Videos

[edit]

There has been some misunderstanding regarding the inclusion of the image. Please notice that whether or not the pictures look alike, it is not the same disc and it does not have the same content. The inclusion of the image, as well as the chronology of Britney's video discs is due to a lack of information regarding the matter. Having used the same artwork to both the CD and the DVD does not mean that they are the same nor does it disqualifies the image to being included here and it does not it violates the fair use of images policies (WP:FAIRUSE, WP:IUP and WP:AAFFD). Plus, the idea of a content "not being necessary" isn't an excuse to delete it. And the image is only to be included in this article simply because there is no self article to the DVD and this is the corresponding CD to the DVD plus its tracklist is listed here. Removing it would be taking off important information "simply because the artwork is the same". To search foward, look for articles of films with soundtrack content on it. Lots of them have the same artwork for the movie and soundtrack (Big Hero 6 and The Lion King (musical)). Thanks for comprehension. - Artmanha (talk) 22:51, 1 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free content is subject to completely different rules – WP:NFCCP – and if there's any question about the use of non-free content then it should be removed ASAP. Binksternet (talk) 23:45, 1 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I read the page and couldn't find anything on the "nearly identical image". Please stop removing the image because you think it must be removed and provide a Wiki rule that justifies your intentions. Thanks - Artmanha (talk) 00:09, 2 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
See WP:NFCC#8, Contextual significance: Non-free content is used only if its presence would significantly increase readers' understanding of the article topic, and its omission would be detrimental to that understanding. The DVD cover doesn't provide any significant benefit. Snuggums (talk / edits) 00:47, 2 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
How come they are not the same when are both identical only adapted for different editions of the release? The DVD artwork is needless in the article, and per SNUGGUMS it fails the policy. It should be removed, or an article for the DVD album has to be created in order to be placed in that infobox. — Tomíca(T2ME) 09:46, 2 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in Britney (album)

[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Britney (album)'s orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "ultratop":

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 23:33, 10 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

15 million copies ??

[edit]

How is it possible to believe that this album sold 15 million copies when the country wherevit sold the most was the USA and it sold 4.9 million there and it didn't sell more than 500,000 in any other country, 8 or 9 million is a good numbee but 15 even 12 million is an INSANE amount. Alberto279 (talk) 05:49, 3 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

15 million

[edit]

The album has sold to date over 15 million copies there are alot of sources that claims that, and using a 2002 source (barely 1 year later after its release when it was still charting and selling) is irrelevant.why her page are controled by people who hates her and put subjective info about her there are sources that claims its at 15 mil level why do people change it to 9 mil just because they think it didnt sell that. your page gives the wrong info.SHAME. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.120.161.125 (talk)

Agree that 9 million claim seems to be a low figure based on available sales and certifications. But: 15 million copies is an inflated figure and that gap between available sales/certifications with most relevant markets, still being a notorious gap for a 2000's release and which is "acceptable" to have reverted it. Maybe you can help to find out a reliable source with showing around 10-11 million. --Apoxyomenus (talk) 19:31, 10 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

WW Sales

[edit]

There's no way this album only sold 9 - 10 million copies worldwide. In USA it sold x4 Platinum in one month after the official release (the latest RIAA update was in December 2001 and the album was released in November 2001). It is stated by official sources that "Britney" album sold more than 7 million copies before the end of 2001 year, so we are talking about 7 million WW sales in two months.

The album by now is at least 15 million copies worldwide considering that in 2002 "Britney" had some singles released and a Worldwide Tour that keept boosting her worldwide sales of this album. All certification data that we have nowadays is from 2001 or the beginning of 2002.

It's time for "Britney" to be recognised with the actual number of sales that really has sold WW and update once and for all her certifications cause they are VERY OUTDATED. In conclusion nowadays "Britney" sales at least are 15 million copies WW. 88.7.36.115 (talk) 11:49, 3 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is not about "recognizing" an artist for their sales. It is about reliable sources, which you have brought none. --Muhandes (talk) 15:44, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
