Information about V4 Update

[edit]

I have added some information which I thought was useful to the page. This information covers some basic new features in the version 4 update. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Technonerd0110 (talkcontribs) 1:44, June 5, 2005

A lot of edits on same day - High Traffic - explanation

[edit]

The explanation of all the edits to this entry on November 19th and 20th was due to a topic made on ProBoards Support telling about this Wikipedia entry. The High Traffic template will be removed after that topic is dead. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Real decimic (talkcontribs) 07:33, November 20, 2005

Removed the notice as the topic is locked and dead. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Real decimic (talkcontribs) 2:38, November 23, 2005

Protect temporarily

[edit]

Apparently under attack by anonymous users. Should be temporarily protected for anonymous users. Marcos Juárez 17:09, 22 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Easier to request here: Requests for Page Protection. --real_decimic 03:38, 24 March 2006 (UTC)

General

[edit]

"Last, but not least, the general talk forum is there for members to chat with other friendly members. The rules are enforced by a team of moderators, so although the rules are stict, it is necessary to maintain order." Should that whole paragraph be removed? It is hardly needed, and isin't really true anyway. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Declivity (talkcontribs) 21:18, April 1, 2006

Wow. this really needs to be cleaned up! Its a mess and barely readable. No punctuation, basically. An outsider who has never been to proboards would never get this.--24.168.149.141 17:20, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That link at the bottom "healthty Proboards forum" is just advertising. It should be delted. --24.168.149.141 17:20, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Stupid Edits

[edit]

This post on ProBoards's support board says that anyone making stupid edits on this article will find themselves banned from the support board. It is also considered vandalism on Wikipedia. --real_decimic 00:39, 24 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

How can we make it so the proboard 's sites we make are included in the search menu? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Declivity (talkcontribs) 21:18, April 1, 2006

Here is not the place to ask. This is a talk page for the article ProBoards, not the ProBoards Support forum. --real_decimic 22:37, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Servers

[edit]

I've reverted the information about servers (again!) to the correct number. This number refers to the number of physical machines that ProBoards owns, not the highest number in the proboards##.com domain names.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.114.241.208 (talkcontribs) 20:00, September 13, 2006

Remember: Some servers are combined. Those servers would only be counted as one. --real_decimic 22:37, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Here are the combined servers: Available via the Server Status Page --real_decimic 06:10, 4 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Service Statistics

[edit]

Should either be renewed or removed. It sounds like an advertisement, and the numbers are constantly changing. Tjsmith 00:12, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Has been renewed. Stating how many albums a band has sold is not an advertisement, so stating how many forums a business hosts shouldn't be either. 86.137.115.61 03:16, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Should really have an "as of" so people know when the "currently" really means. 160.253.128.7 14:30, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Adam as staff

[edit]

Should a/any "forum service that shall not be named" be named in the ProBoards Wikipedia entry?

Yes. This isn't the support forum. T.J.T! 05:58, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia is an independent encyclopedia, providing unbiased information. The reason HB can't be talked about at the PB Support forum is because it's somewhere between impolite and unfair to PB to use its own official forum to talk about competing products. 86.151.139.148 (talk) 23:17, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

reads like a advertisement

[edit]

"ProBoards has over 980,000,000 forums hosted on it's server, making it one of the most popular websites on the Internet", shouldn't it just say, "making it popular" because I bet you InvisionFree gets more than that.--4.245.80.3 (talk) 02:57, 14 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Alternatives

[edit]

There really should be a list of alternatives on here. It would be incredibly useful and help maintain the neutrality of the page. It was only through the comments here that I learned about InvisionFree, which would obviously be the first entry in this proposed section. Deluxe (talk) 05:23, 20 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

--Actually, "popular" is itself a biased, subjective term unless being compared to something else, such as another similar site's numbers? I'd remove the mention of popularity altogether unless it's compared concretely to something else such as Invisionfree, Zetaboards or another free forum service. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.221.52.31 (talk) 07:42, 17 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

We do have this article entitled List of BBS software which includes the software about which this article-ish thing is written. Of course many of us are worried about our beloved wikipedia being taken advantage of by those who would profit from the placement of advertisements ostensibly as articles. I'd be happy to head a team of people dedicated to cleaning up all the articles in our compiled list of BBS software. Please let me know if you're interested in joining such a task force. There are many similar "lists of product" type areas that need to be sorted out and this seems as good a place as any to begin. Find my talk page here to express your interest, Thank you, Harlequence (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 02:32, 13 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

my tagging

[edit]

This article basically is an advertisement for proboards that uses only their own website as a source. As such I tagged it. Discuss Voomoo (talk) 04:04, 16 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

we can't qutie prove that this is an advertisement disguised as an article yet, but since the software is not open source, it should definitely be removed from all categories linking it to its alleged language of origin; it is fine to mention within the alleged article that the software is written in perl, but it is simply abuse of wikipedia categorization policy to make this underneath something as widely-relevant as the perl programming language.

Harlequence (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 23:19, 11 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

update

[edit]

after hearing no opposition, went ahead with this: removed the page from "perl software" category.

Abnormalities of 3D genome architecture is linked to cancers?

[edit]

In 1986, a Chinese scholar, Gao-De Li hypothesized that the 3D genome architecture is closely linked to gene activities, cell differentiation and oncogenesis. Recently, more and more research evidence supports this hypothesis.
